Layers of Life

This piece is basically me putting my story out there. Over the last 20 years, I’ve moved around a lot - from the old streets of Italy to Libya before the war, the fast-paced life in the UAE, and a bunch of other places. I’m Zimbabwean at heart, but people often assume I’m something else - Portuguese, Algerian, you name it. I’ve kind of learned to blend in wherever I go, and that’s shaped how I see the world. I guess you could say I’ve become a bit of a chameleon.

This project was my way of showing who I really am. There’s so much more to me than people realize - my background, the ups and downs, the love, the heartbreak, the joy, the pain - it all comes together to make me… well, me. I wasn’t trying to prove anything or tick boxes, just wanted to share my story and how I’ve come to understand that everyone’s got something unique going on.

Nowadays, I think it’s super important to stay true to where you come from. No need to hide or pretend to be someone else. Sharing our stories matters. I’m still figuring that out myself — sometimes I cave to what society expects.

But this piece? It’s not just about my past, it’s also about where I’m headed.
